1.1 About Tibiacity Spots
Tibiacity Spots is a Tibia related social networking tool that allows you to create a profile page, screenshot or photo gallery, a personal blog, a movie center and so on. The idea is to create some kind of MySpace / Live Spaces for Tibia users.
Features and possibilities will be added all the time to make these Spots user friendly and feature rich. In the way of the possible we’ll add all good ideas our users submit to us, although it can take a while before your requests have been implanted. Because your opinion helps us a lot into developing Tibiacity Spots we’re always open for your ideas.
To create your own Tibiacity spot you have to register on Tibiacity. After you’ll be able to post on our forum, comment screenshots and movies of other members, create your own photo albums… Make sure to register today!
1.2 Problems logging in
If you have problems logging in on the site this can be caused by 2 things:
A. You use the ‘remember me’ function on the forum and you haven’t logged out since 1 March 2007: This can cause problems with logging in because there is already a cookie placed by Tibiacity on your PC or notebook. We changed the cookie path so it works with the entire website instead of with the forum only, so you’ll have to get a new cookie. To get this new cookie simply go to the forum, log out, and log in again.
B. You don’t use www in the URL: This actually concerns the cookie too. It’s important that you log in when you have the complete URL in your address bar (http://www.tibiacity.org), and not just (http://tibiacity.org). Not using www in your URL does not give any visual difference, except that the cookie will again not function as you want it to do. The session you created on the forum will not be valid for the website. Solution: always check you have www in your URL, go to the forum, log out, and log in again.
If you still have problems logging in after reading these hints, you can send an e-mail with a description of your problem, and I’ll mail you back with a solution as soon as possible.
1.3 Profiles
The first page you come on when you go to someone’s spot is his profile. On the profile of a user you can find some information of the user, such as his/her contact options, his/her job, interests… When you’re on your own spot you’ll be able to update your profile. When clicking on the ‘Edit your profile’ link you’ll come on the profile page of the forum. To ease our scripting work and to prevent you from entering information twice, we have opted to use the information of the forum profile for the spots profile.
You’re also able to upload a picture of yourself (if you would like). When looking to your own profile page, click on ‘Edit your picture’ and you’ll see a form to upload your image. The maximum allowed image size is 100kB and the allowed file extensions are jpg, jpeg, gif, and png. Your photo can be maximum 700 by 700 pixels.
2 Image albums
2.1 Creating an album
You can create a new photo album here. Once you’re on that page you’ll see this form if you’re logged in. If you do not see this form, then you’re not on your spot or you’re not logged in.

To create a new album, fill in the form above:
2.2 Uploading an image
Unlike our previous version of Tibiacity Spots you don't have to select an album anymore. After you created an album, enter that album and you'll see an upload form at the bottom of the page. This makes uploading images easier, and lowers the ammount of pictures that are uploaded into wrong albums.

To upload an image you have to fill in the next:
Note: Uploaded images are being saved on ImageShack. Without their help this feature would never be possible.
2.3 Image albums
If you have added images to your albums you’ll be able to view them. All your albums, no matter if there are images in it or not, will be displayed below the upload form. Albums with a green border are visible to anyone; albums with a red border are private and are only visible to yourself and administrators.
On the left of your albums you’ll see the last added image. Clicking on this image will bring you to the album where the image is placed in, and not to the image page. Below the album title and description you’ll see your album settings.

To edit your album title, description or settings; click on
and you’ll be able to change these settings. If you want to delete your album, click on
and you’ll be asked to confirm your deletion. Click on ‘OK’ if you’re sure you want to delete your album. Please note that this option is irreversible and that you’ll lose all images in your album.
Once you have clicked on the album you want to view, you’ll come on the album page showing thumbnails of the 15 first images of the album. By default the oldest images are displayed first, but you can change the order by clicking the link at the sort images box, shown below. When you later click on an image, the order you selected here will be remembered.

When you have many images (more then 15), pages will be added. You can view the page you’re currently on at the bottom of the page, below the thumbnails. You can also click on the other pages (not bold) to view the images on that page. The page navigator can be seen below.

When clicking on an image you’ll see the image with a size of 411x293 pixels. When clicking on the image, a javascript will enlarge the image. If your browser does not support javascript it will open the image in the current window. Below the image you’ll see editing and delete options, like at the albums. If you placed an image in a wrong album you’ll be able to change the album it’s placed in with the edit option below the corresponding image.
2.4 Commenting images
You can rate and comment every image on the spots if the album owner has allowed commenting. You’re also able to rate and comment movies and blog entries. To do this you’ll need to be registered and logged in. If you’re not logged in, you can log in using the login function in the right sidebar. If you don’t want to log in every time you visit Tibiacity you might opt to select the ‘Remember me’ function. If you have problems logging in you should read section 1.2 of this manual.
Because we have quite a lot of members strict rules on commenting should be made. All comments posted should keep in mind the Tibia rules, and should be constructive. Comments are not mentioned to insult people, but to give them advice on how to do things better or to praise what they did well. Also spam is prohibited. By spamming you ruin the average rating and you make the page very long with a lot of useless content. Spammers will be banned from Tibiacity (also from the forum, since both use the same account). Below you can find some examples of good and bad comments.
BAD: Screenshot sucks, you too.
GOOD: I don’t really like the screenshot, it’s kinda blurry.
The red text is a bad comment because it’s an insult against the person who made the movie and because it doesn’t give any advice on what the user could do better. A better comment would be the green one. It advices the person what he could do better, so it is a useful comment.
BAD: YYHAAAAAHAA OHOOAAI
GOOD: Movie rules, great job.
This is a bad post because it makes no sense. It’s what we call spam. The comment in green is a good comment, because it is to the point.
The maximum length of comments is 500 characters (including spaces). You’ll see a counter below the comment box counting down from 500 to 0 when you type in it.

3 Blogging
3.1 Adding a blog entry
When viewing your own blog you’ll see an administrator panel at the right of your blog giving you the option to add a new blog entry. If you would like to do so, click on it and you’ll be able to create your blogpost.

First of all you’ll have to enter your blogpost’s title. There is a 50 character limit on blogpost titles, to prevent people from making extreme long titles. Your blogpost itself can be 5000 characters long including spaces. HTML is not allowed, although we plan to allow some vB code later. At the moment only plain text and screenshots are possible.
To add a screenshot click on ‘Upload screenshot’ below your blog post and make sure you allow pop-up windows. In this pop-up window enter your image title (the title you want to be visible when moving over your image) and browse to the screenshot on your PC you want to upload. Once you filled in these 2 things, click on ‘Upload screenshot’. Your screenshot will now be uploaded. This can take a while depending on your image’s size. The maximum allowed image size is 1.5MB and the allowed file formats are jpg, jpeg, png, gif and bmp.

Once you clicked the ‘Upload screenshot’ button and your screenshot is uploaded you’ll see a textbox with the code you have to copy into your newspost to the place you would like your screenshot to be. The code looks like {7} with in the middle the number of your screenshot as it is saved in the database. Just copy this and paste it into your blogpost on the place you want the screenshot to be.
What does this code do? The {} around the screenshot number convert your number into the screenshot you uploaded. If your screenshot is larger then the site lay-out it will automatically be resized and become clickable. When people then click on it the screenshot will open completely in a hover over your page (if your browser supports javascript) and else the image will open in your current window.
3.2 Your blog page
On your blog page you’ll see the last 10 blog entries as well as an archive with all the blog entries you made. We are currently thinking of a more attractive way to present this information, but we haven’t decided anything yet.
When clicking on the title of a blogpost, or on the comments link your blogpost will open and you’ll be able to see your blogpost with all comments being made on it. Comments will also have a rating, but for now we decided not to calculate average ratings on blog entries.
3.3 Posting comments
Commenting blog entries is the same then commenting images, therefore read section 2.4 for commenting requirements and rules.
4. Movie center
4.1 Your movie center
The movie center is something that’s a little bit harder to work with then the screenshot/image albums and blogs. When adding a movie you’ll need a movie number, but you’ll read more about this in section 4.3. You’re able to add movies from 6 different websites (Google Video, YouTube, Metacafe, Ifilm, MySpace Videos and Grouper).
Your movie center will look the same then the Tibiacity movie section. You’ll be able to sort movies on their title, length, total comments, average rating and views. When you open a movie you’ll also be able to comment and rate movies.
4.2 Adding a movie
When you’re viewing your own movie center you’ll see a control panel to add new movies. Once you filled in the form correctly click on ‘Add movie’ and your movie will be added to your movie center immediately. You can see the form to add a movie below.

You have to fill in the next:
4.3 Movie number
Depending on where your movie comes from the movie number will be different. The movie number can be found in the page URL on most sites. Below we’ll go trough all movie hosts we allow and explain you how you can obtain the movie number.
4.3.1 Google Video
For people with some PHP knowledge, the movie number is the docid Google Video has in its URL. For people with no PHP knowledge we’ll explain what we mean below. Go to Google Video and browse to the movie you like. Select everything behind ‘…docid=’ until ‘&q…’ or if there is no ‘&q…’ select everything behind ‘…docid=’. The part you selected now is the movie number. You can see the movie number marked in the example below.
Example: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=
-6452621021859491548&q=tibiacity
4.3.2 YouTube
For people with some PHP knowledge, the movie number is the v variable YouTube has in its URL. For people with no PHP knowledge: Select everything behind ‘…v=’, this is your movie number.
Example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uEAAGVy5FmQ
4.3.3 Metacafe
Metacafe is a little bit different from the other ones, here you’ll have to select everything behind the ‘watch/’, but you have to remove the last slash.
Example: http://www.metacafe.com/watch/483163/dog_and_duck/
4.3.4 Ifilm
Just select all the numbers from the URL.
Example: http://www.ifilm.com/video/2672316
4.3.5 MySpace Videos
Select everything behind ‘videoid=’.
Example: http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=2014329993
4.3.6 Grouper
Select the part between ‘…id=’ and ‘&ml=’.
Example: http://www.grouper.com/video/MediaDetails.aspx?id=1805549&ml=o%3d0%26fx%3d%26fp%3d1%26fc%3d8

2 Image albums
2.1 Creating an album
You can create a new photo album here. Once you’re on that page you’ll see this form if you’re logged in. If you do not see this form, then you’re not on your spot or you’re not logged in.

To create a new album, fill in the form above:
| Album name: | The name you want your album to have. Limit is 30 characters. |
| Type: | Here you can choose rather you want your album to be public or private. Public albums will appear in your album list and will be visible to others when they view your spot. Private albums will only be visible to you, administrators and people that have the album URL. You could for example use this possibility to show images to your guild only. |
| Allow comments: | Here you can choose if you want to allow people to comment and rate the images in that album or not. Allowing comments and rating can help you increasing the popularity of your spot because high rated screenshots will appear in a list. |
| Description: | The description of your image album. You can describe what kind of screenshots people can find in that album. For this option the limit is set on 500 characters. |

| Image location: | Browse to the image on your pc or notebook by hitting the ‘Browse…’ button and select the image. After you have selected it click on open. The location of the image will now appear in the textbox before the ‘Browse…’ button. |
| Description: | Your image description. This will appear below the image in your gallery. |
Note: Uploaded images are being saved on ImageShack. Without their help this feature would never be possible.
2.3 Image albums
If you have added images to your albums you’ll be able to view them. All your albums, no matter if there are images in it or not, will be displayed below the upload form.
